Description	:	OTTUMWA - Madeline V. Luke, 89, of 832 Lillian St., died at 6:25 pm Sept, 30, 2011, at Hospice House in Ottumwa. She was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Ottumwa to William Augustus and Nora Belle Montgomery Jones. She married Russell Luke on Sept. 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1984. A resident Ottumwa all of her life, she was a member of Davis St. Christian Church over 75 years, serving as their church historian. She was a painter, enjoyed art and local history. Surviving are her son, Dr. R.D."Dan"(Linda)Luke of Ottumwa; two grandsons, Christopher and Joel Luke; six great-grandchildren, Zackary, Cora, Gabriel, Susan, Alexander and Rene; a sister, Maxine Dryer of Indianola; two nephews, Stephen and David Dryer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Mitchell. Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 am today at the funeral home with the family present from 6-7 pm this evening. Memorials may be made to the Ottumwa Public Library or Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties, Ottumwa, Iowa.
