Lena Werling, daughter of John Werling and Catherine Willer Werling was born on a farm near Tipton, Iowa on the 16th day of March A.D. 1859. Most of her life was spent at or in the vicinity of Tipton and for the past several years she had divided her time between the homes of her nieces Mrs. Ralph Wingert and the Misses Verda and Edith Hill. She had been an invalid for the past year but bore her suffering with great patience and forbearance. "Aunt Lena" as she was affectionately known, not only to her nieces and nephews but to a host of friends, leaves behind her a life spent in service to others. Her sisters and brother knew her tender care for their mother died when they were very young. Her boys and girls treasure many pleasant memories of hours spent with her, and a heart that was big enough to find a place for all made her life truly beautiful. She needs no tribute. Her life speaks for itself and her love and understanding will live on in the hearts of her friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of Tipton, Iowa of which church she had been a member since childhood and to which she had been faithful all her life. She was a member of many of the church organizations and also was a member of Helping Hand Rebekah Lodge No. 517. She leaves surviving her one sister, Louise French of Los Angeles, California, a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Contributor: daisy (48425018) •
