LOUISE FRENCH Memorial service was held Monday, June 10, at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home in Tipton for Mrs. Louise French, well known Tipton resident who passed away Wednesday, June 5th, 1957, in a rest home in Mount Vernon, Iowa, following an illness of two years. She had attained the age of 91 years, 10 months and 20 days. The Rev. A. C. Long officiated. Interment was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Louise Werling was born August 25, 1865 in Cedar county, daughter of the late Catherine Willer Werling and John Werling. She was the youngest and last survivor of a family of six children, was educated in Cedar county rural schools, and was of Presbyterian faith. She was married to John Shuler French in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 25, 1883. To this union were born two daughters, Edna and Zada, and two sons Herbert and John. Mrs. French lived most of her life in Cedar county in and near Tipton, and in the west until returning to Tipton three years ago to make her home with the Ralph Wingert family. She also had resided for a time in California. Mrs. French was a devoted, good mother, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She will always be lovingly remembered for her good nature. Mrs. French was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters Minnie, Lena and Mary; also two brothers, John and Charles, and 2 daughters, Edna and Zada. She is survived by 2 sons, John of Bozeman, Montana, and Herbert, of Quietes, Montana; eleven grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren as well as a host of friends.
