Read More	Dayton Review Thursday, February 19, 1914 ANOTHER PIONEER GONE The death angel took another of the pioneer mothers of this county last Saturday in the person of Mrs. Stephen Rufer, whose death took place at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gus Schram near Burnside. Magdalena Weyer was born February 27, 1834, in Canton Solothurn, near Bern, Switzerland, and died February 14, 1914, aged 79 years, 11 months, 18 days. She came to this country in 1847 as a girl with her parents, and settled in Ohio, where in 1855 she was married to Stephen Rufer. To this union ten children were born, one of whom preceded her to the spirit world. Mr. Rufer also passed away about four years ago. From Ohio, the family moved to Illinois, where under the labors of Rev. Jacob Schaefle, Father and Mother Rufer, then still young, were converted to God, and joined the Evangelical Church. When they moved to Iowa, settling in Burnside Township, they not only belonged to the first settlers, but their home became favorably known for its hospitality, and cheerfulness of administering to others, especially the early pioneer ministers of the Evangelical Church. Mother Rufer was one of God's beloved, who has now gone to her eternal reward. She will be sorely missed by her children, as well as by the friends and neighbors of the community in which she has lived so long. She leaves four sons and five daughters, Albert of Bruce, S. Dak., Will of Moorhead, Minn., Samuel of Fergus Falls, Minn., Winfred of Burnside, Mrs. Louisa Olmstead of Luddington, Mich., Mrs. Minnie Manchester of Burnside, Mrs. Tillie Smith of Waverly, and Mrs. Nettie Black, and Mrs. Amanda Schram, both of Burnside; also a sister, Mrs. Mary Mosshart in Texas, and two brothers, John Weyer, Ainsworth, Nebr., and Chris. Weyer, Shellsburg, Iowa, besides many grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Her funeral services were held yesterday from the Burnside Baptist Church, her pastor, Rev. J. D. Klooz of Fort Dodge, having charge of the services, assisted by Rev. L. F. Smith of Waverly, a son-in-law of the deceased, and Rev. Todd of the Baptist Church. Her remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Dayton cemetery. She resteth from her labors and her works do follow.
