Description	:	The Vermillion Times Thursday, March 20, 1941 Maggie Harper was born on April 22, 1861 at Ripley, West Virginia and passed away on March 12, 1941. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Harper. The family suffered many hardships during the Civil War. In 1865 the family came west to Illinois and in 1873 to Vermillion, Kansas. She received her education in the local schools. She was a successful teacher. She was married in a double wedding service with her twin sister, Isabelle and Charles Oliver. Read More	The Vermillion Times Thursday, March 20, 1941 Maggie Harper was born on April 22, 1861 at Ripley, West Virginia and passed away on March 12, 1941. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Harper. The family suffered many hardships during the Civil War. In 1865 the family came west to Illinois and in 1873 to Vermillion, Kansas. She received her education in the local schools. She was a successful teacher. She was married in a double wedding service with her twin sister, Isabelle and Charles Oliver. Mr. and Mrs. Schafer had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with the family two years ago and have enjoyed fifty- two years of devoted companionship. To this union was born four daughters, Marjorie, Merle, Gertrude Belle and Nola Elizabeth. Gertrude Belle having died in infancy and Nola Elizabeth at birth. She was a member of the Vermillion Methodist Church since she was a young woman. She was a constant attended of the week day Bible study class, and a superintendent of the Sunday School class. She was a Worthy Matron of the Cordella Chapter of the Eastern Star and was elected honorary member of the order. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Wood- man, St. Joseph, MO and Mrs Merle Hybskmann, Baldwin, Kansas; five grandchildren; a twin sister Mrs. Isabelle Oliver. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Vermillion with Reverwnd H.M Sandersl and burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery Pallbearers were Mr. Schafers six brothers Robert, John, Oliver, Clinton Eugene and Charles.
