Description	:	Mahala was the daughter of Zadock and Isabel Jackson. She can be found living with her parents in the 1850 census for Marion county, Decatur, Indiana On Jan. 16, 1859 she married Richard Burdge (often spelled Burge) in Marion county Indiana. They can be found living together in the 1860 census Decatur, Marion, Indiana. On Nov. 16, 1859 they had a son John Willard. On Sept. 2, 1861 they had a daughter Mary Anna. She can be found living with her parents in the 1850 census for Marion county, Decatur, Indiana On Jan. 16, 1859 she married Richard Burdge (often spelled Burge) in Marion county Indiana. They can be found living together in the 1860 census Decatur, Marion, Indiana. On Nov. 16, 1859 they had a son John Willard. On Sept. 2, 1861 they had a daughter Mary Anna. On Aug. 11, 1862, Richard entered the Civil War, a soldier in the Ind. 12, Co. E Infantry. He was wounded on Aug. 30, 1862 and died of his wounds on Sept.14, 1862 leaving Mahala to raise two young children. The widow and her children can be found living together, close to her parents, in the 1870 and 1880 census Decatur, Marion, Indiana. The daughter, Mary Anna, had married in 1877 and left home. Mary Anna's FAG # 45913008. By 1910, Mahala had moved to Madison, Morgan, Indiana and was living alone. She died eight years later on March 24, 1918 of uremic poisoning.
