Description	:	BARKER, MAHLON E.—Mahlon E. Barker of Geneva passed away Monday, April 20, 1953, at the Geneva General hospital at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 25 days. He was born in Boone county, Ind., the son of Enoch and Martha Barker. The family later moved to Nebraska. He was married in 1895 to Lula E. Enyart at Douglas, Neb. Read More	BARKER, MAHLON E.—Mahlon E. Barker of Geneva passed away Monday, April 20, 1953, at the Geneva General hospital at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 25 days. He was born in Boone county, Ind., the son of Enoch and Martha Barker. The family later moved to Nebraska. He was married in 1895 to Lula E. Enyart at Douglas, Neb. In 1911 Mr. and Mrs. Barker and the family moved to Geneva. Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his wife in 1942, and a son, Carl Elbert, in 1917. He is survived by three children: Earl A. Barker of Durango, Col., Mrs. Hugh Heath of Geneva, and Mrs. Stephen Cummings of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Peterson of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. E. J. Miely of Escondido, Cal. There are also five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Barker was raised in the Quaker faith and later united with the Christian church. In recent years he attended the Methodist church. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He lived a quiet life and was a patient devoted father. Services were held at the Hrubesky-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, Wednesday, April 22, 1953, at 2 o'clock. Dr. F. E. Pfoutz gave the tribute. Music was provided by Ralph Reemts singing "I Heard the Voice of Jesus" and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were Thomas Ewalt, Ben Fussell, Harold Heath, Ray Killion, Neal Tucker and O. H. Weaver. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Geneva I. O. O. F. lodge No. 65 held graveside services.
