Read More	LEMA, MANUEL A. died in Ferndale July 16, 1983 at age 71. A native of Marin County, he was a resident of Ferndale since 1950. Mr. Lema attended the old Grizzly Bluff and Coffee Creek Elementary Schools. He worked as a dairyman and later owned and operated the Lemas Grocery Store and 76 Union Station for over 16 years, retiring in 1973. For the past 10 years, he had been the gardener and building caretaker of the Citizens Mortuary in Ferndale. He was a hobby enthusiast in the hand-making of Redwood truck s which had been sold in numerous stores and raffled off at various community functions. He and his wife Emily had been married for over 46 years in January. He is survived by his wife, Emily E. Lema of Ferndale; his children, Mrs. Elsie L. Wright and Larry and Jerry Lema all of Ferndale; his sisters, Mrs. Amelia (Mel) Moore of Santa Rosa, Mrs. Mary Bassett of Sacramento, Mrs. Isabel (Bess) Gifford of Sonoma, and Mrs. Marge Casey of Modesto; his grandchildren, Lori Ann and Tina Riddle, Randy Wright, and Lenette, Chris and Tom Lema; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and his sister-in-law, Marie Lema of Ferndale. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Joe Lema, and his sister, Aileen Dewey. Friends are invited to attend the recitation of the rosary at the Chapel of the Ferns, Citizens Mortuary, Ferndale at 8 p .m. this evening. Friends may assemble at the chapel at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday thence to Assumption Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 A.M. with the Rev. Father Kevin McCann celebrant. Concluding services will be at St. Bernards Cemetery in Eureka. Casketbearers will be Tony Lorenzo, John Dewey, Rich and John Michel, Dave Lema, Ed Giacomini, Joe Martin, and Joe Leonardo. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Ferns, Citizens Mortuary, Ferndale. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
