Description	:	Marcellus Calkins was born in New York to Riley Anson Calkins (1820-1899) and Mary Ann House (1825-1918) Most of his youth was spent in Wyoming, Iowa. He married Elizabeth W. Cory (1856-1901) September 5, 1872. They lived in Ironwood, Michigan. They spent most of their married life in Wyoming and Maquoketa, Iowa. Their children were Hattie, William,,Riley, Samuel, and Charles. Hattie married Charles Smith and had two sons, Earnest and Mahlon Smith. Read More	Marcellus Calkins was born in New York to Riley Anson Calkins (1820-1899) and Mary Ann House (1825-1918) Most of his youth was spent in Wyoming, Iowa. He married Elizabeth W. Cory (1856-1901) September 5, 1872. They lived in Ironwood, Michigan. They spent most of their married life in Wyoming and Maquoketa, Iowa. Their children were Hattie, William,,Riley, Samuel, and Charles. Hattie married Charles Smith and had two sons, Earnest and Mahlon Smith. Hattie died and Marcellus and Elizabeth brought the boys to Iowa and raised the grandsons with their boys. Marcellus would list himself as a wagon maker, wheelwright, blacksmith, farmer and sometimes as odd jobs. Family history says that Elizabeth passed away in Wisconsin, He marries two other women to help raise his family. Marcellus married Jane Isabell Reiter in 1903 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Then in 1908, he marries Mary Ann Wells Hawley. In 1914, Marcellus moves to Webster City, Iowa where he lived for a short time as a child. His sons, Samuel and Charles Calkins also move to Webster City to raise their families. Marcellus passes away in 1918. There is no stone but a family member had said he was there so we found a record of his death at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. Gertrude Brown Calkins in the Graceland Cemetery was married to his son Samuel. Susie O. (Brown) Calkins was married to his son, Charles and is also buried in the Graceland Cemetery.
