Hackett is the daughter of Chase T. and Susan Hackett. She was born in New Hampton July 6, 1833. Marcia married Franklin on May 20, 1855. They had three children: Ida G., Carrie A., and George E. Mr. Scribner died February 9, 1885, at Whitefield, and his widow died December 3, 1889, in South Framingham, Mass. Mrs. Scribner leaves three children, George Scribner, of the Ashland Knitting Company, Mrs. William B. Fellows of Tilton, wife of the Judge of Probate for Belknap County and Mrs. Marston of South Framingham. There was carried to her last earthly resting place in Green Grove Cemetery Wednesday of this week, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of this town, in the person of Mrs. Marcia E. Scribner, widow of the late Franklin M. Scribner who died about fifteen years ago. Mrs. Scribner died very suddenly Sunday morning, December 3 at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. H.A. Marston of South Framingham where she had gone with her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Scribner of this town, to spend Thanksgiving. She had not been feeling very well for some time past, but with her usual Christian fortitude, screened from the notice of the immediate members of her family any alarming evidence of sickness. She took suddenly ill Sunday morning, despite the best medical aid that could be procured. The remains were brought home Monday. The funeral took place, under the efficient management of E.G. Gammons, from the family residence on Pleasant Street, the Rev. James Thompson, rector, assisted by the Reverend Lorin Webster, an old friend of the family, and former rector. The bearers were Messrs Dearborn, Brethrick, Cols. Cheney and Hodgdon. The town mourns the loss of a true friend and the parish of St Mark's, a saintly character. Her life was an inspiration. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community. Singing was by the quartette of St Mark's Church, composed of Miss Perkins, Mrs. L.A. Cheney, Messrs. Spaulding and Huckins.
