Memorial services will be 11 a.m.Thursday,Feb. 8,at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron,with Pastor Steve Jewett of New Horizons United Church of Christ in Akron.Inturnment will be at a later date in Westfield Cemetery,in rural Westfield,Iowa. She married Daryl Smith on Dec. 27,1955.She taught grade school at Liberty Consolidated,rural Plymouth County,Iowa,Westfield,Akron and Sioux City.She will greatly be missed all who knew her. She enjoyed her family very much,attending almost everything her children and grandchildren participated in until her health prevented her from doing so.She was very proud of them all.She loved watching her granddaughters show sheep and watching the Akron/Westfield softball team. She dearly loved her cats and dog.She was a avid reader.She wrote and published several books for Silhouette Romances and short stories in Red Book and several other magazines. Survivors include her husband of over 51 years,Daryl of Akron;four sons,Blane Smith of Akron,Blair & Robin Smith of Westfield,Brock and Briggs and his wife Kim of Akron,Iowa;five grandchildren,Mylee,Kayla,Danika,Logan and Josie Mae;sister,Dixie Beavers and her husband Mike of McCook Lake,S.D.;a speical aunt and uncle,Robert & Elaine Michael of Akron;several other relatives and friends. She preceded in death by her parents.
