| Description | : | Marcus Paul Esser was born December 9, 1919, to Herman and Katherine (Bissen) Esser. Marcus attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Earling, Iowa. Marcus proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946. Marcus married Sophia Brandt on April 28, 1953 at St. Rose of Lima in Denison, Iowa. The couple farmed and had dairy cows southwest of Woodbine. Marcus was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and countless games of cards.
