Description	:	Maren Caroline (Miah) Petersen was born to Chris C. Petersen and Ottolina "Lena" Jessen Petersen on 18 August 1899. She was raised with 3 younger sisters on a farm west of Exira, Iowa. Her sisters were Hilda Magrite, Katie Marie Hansine, and Ruby Christine. Miah and two of her sisters served the church as organists. Miah graduated from Exira High School, then graduated with a Primary Certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College, now the University of Northern Iowa. She taught three years at Audubon and two years at Exira. She taught Bible School during the summer as well as Sunday School... Read More	Maren Caroline (Miah) Petersen was born to Chris C. Petersen and Ottolina "Lena" Jessen Petersen on 18 August 1899. She was raised with 3 younger sisters on a farm west of Exira, Iowa. Her sisters were Hilda Magrite, Katie Marie Hansine, and Ruby Christine. Miah and two of her sisters served the church as organists. Miah graduated from Exira High School, then graduated with a Primary Certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College, now the University of Northern Iowa. She taught three years at Audubon and two years at Exira. She taught Bible School during the summer as well as Sunday School and was organist for Sunday School and church. On 5 March 1925, Miah Petersen and Chris Back were married at the bride's home by Rev. P.C. Jensen. They lived on the Fred Back farm until 4 February 1964, when Chris suffered a stroke. In 1968 they sold their farm to a nephew, Stanley and Amanda Hansen and their son, Robert Hansen lived there after that. Chris and Miah moved into the house they had built on West South Street in Exira in February 1969. Chris died April 8, 1973. Chris and Miah have three children: Alice Lorraine, married Marvin Kyndesen, Exira; Catherine Ann, married Emmert Schmidt, Audubon; and Donovan Frederick Back, married to Julien Gaskill, Eagle Grove, Iowa.--Source Exira Quasquicentennial Book, page 128-129.
