She was born in Springfield Township, Franklin County, IN, on January 13, 1916, the daughter of Riley and Nettie (Stone) Appleton. She worked in banking over twenty-five years before retiring in 1975. She was employed first at the Franklin County National Bank, Brookville and then at the First National Bank of Oxford and the First National Bank of Hamilton. Read More	Margaret Carryl Appleton Brackney Margaret Carryl Appleton Brackney, age 95, of Monroe, OH, formerly of Oxford, passed away June 4, 2011 at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born in Springfield Township, Franklin County, IN, on January 13, 1916, the daughter of Riley and Nettie (Stone) Appleton. She worked in banking over twenty-five years before retiring in 1975. She was employed first at the Franklin County National Bank, Brookville and then at the First National Bank of Oxford and the First National Bank of Hamilton. Margaret was an active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church. She was a 75 year member of the Brookville Order of Eastern Star #449, the Delta Theta Tau sorority and the M. Louisa Chitwood Club. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Dennis Nordeman of Rome, Georgia; a grandson and wife, Douglas and Julie Nordeman of Huntsville, Alabama; a granddaughter and husband, Debra and Richard Bash of Atlanta, Georgia; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, OH with the Rev. Karen Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Cedar Cemetery, Brookville. The family will receive friends at the Smith & Ogle Funeral from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Big Cedar Cemetery, c/o Karen Anderson, 2184 Abbott Rd. Brookville, IN 47012 or to the charity of your choice.
