MRS.EVERETT M.BARR Mrs.Everett M.Barr of Mission Creek died at the Pawnee hospital Wednesday August 15, 1923, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church in Pawnee City Saturday morning, August 18, at 10:30 and interment was made in the Pawnee City cemetery. A large number of sorrowing friends gathered at the church to pay their last respects to the deceased. Rev. E.L. McCreery of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago had charge of the service. He was assisted by Rev. M. B. Maxwell of Pawnee City, Rev. W. C. Porter of Burchard and Dr. W. R. Gray of Summerfield. Rev. McCreery prepared and read the following sketch of Mrs. Barr's life: Margaret Elenor Hawkins Barr, the daughter of Ida Miller and William Newton Hawkins, was born in Washington county, Pa., August 30, 1898, and fell to sleep in Jesus August 15, 1923, at the age of 25 years, 1 month and 16days. Her early life was spent in Washington, Pa., where she received her education, graduating from the high school and then in 1917 from the Washington seminary. She was deeply religious nature, keenly interested in the things of the spirit. She united with the United Presbyterian church of Washington, Pa., at the age of 15, continuing in the active work of the church there until her marriage and removal to Mission Creek, where she at once united with the United Presbyterian congregation, into which church she immediately entered with a fervor and zeal which meant much to the work there. Hers was a personality of gifts and abilities beyond the ordinary. her bright, cheerful disposition and her willingness to undertake any task suggested to her in the church work made her life a real benediction to all who came under her personal influence. As her pastor I wish to testify to the enrichment of my own life through having known her. Her active life leaves vacant a large place, not only in the home and church, but also in the entire community, where she was greatly loved. During her early years of christian activity she manifested a remarkable zeal for one so young. During evangelistic meetings conducted by the late Dr. Wilbur Chapman at Washington she was always found doing all she could through the ministry of song and personal work and found in this her great joy and satisfaction. On October 12, 1921, she was united in marriage to Everett Morrison Barr and at once came with him to make their home in Mission Creek. During the brief years of residence there she greatly endeared herself to a great host of friends and acquaintances. Of her immediate family she leaves to mourn their loss her husband and their infant son, John David, her mother Mrs. Ida M. Hawkins, four sisters, Mrs. G. H. Buchanan of Westfield, N. J., Mrs. H. L. Trusell of Wheeling, W. Va., Mrs. W. E. Coulson of Pittsburg, Pa., Mrs. I. W. Vester of Charleston, W. Va., also three brothers, Lewis F. Hawkins of Detroit, Mich., Dr. J. C. Hawkins of Pittsburg, Pa., and Glenn K. Hawkins of Washington, pa. A sister, Mrs. Greer Bingham and her father William Newton Hawkins have already preceded her to the heavenly home. Again God has taken one of His choicest personalities from the earthly life, making heaven the nearer and dearer to those who remain.
