Description	:	Mrs. Margaret Ellis Baker, resident of Nevada for more than 70 years, died Tuesday at a local hospital where she had been a patient since last October. She was admitted at that time with a broken hip. Widow of the late B. F. Baker of Mina, Mrs. Baker had lived in Yerington since the death of her husband five years ago. She and her husband were well-known in the hotel business in the state, having operated hostelries in Yerington, Hawthorne and Mina. She was admitted at that time with a broken hip. Widow of the late B. F. Baker of Mina, Mrs. Baker had lived in Yerington since the death of her husband five years ago. She and her husband were well-known in the hotel business in the state, having operated hostelries in Yerington, Hawthorne and Mina. Funeral services will be conducted in Yerington at 2:30 pm Thursday, with burial in the family plot in Yerington. The Capital City Mortuary of Carson is in charge. Mrs. Baker was born in Perry, Missouri, and was 82 years of age. During her early childhood she came west with her parents and settled in Genoa. Returning to Missouri a few years later, Mrs. Baker met and married Mr. Baker while visiting her sister, the late Mrs. Angus McLeod, in Hawthorne. Mr. Baker, the son of Henry Baker, early-day Mason valley settler, was well-known in Esmeralda, Lyon and Mineral counties. For several years Mr. and Mrs. Baker operated the Commercial hotel in Yerington and then moved to Hawthorne where they operated the Nucleus hotel and, later, the Lakeview Hotel. When Mina became the terminus of the railroad, Mr. and Mrs. Baker moved there in 1905 and built the Mina Hotel, which they operated until Mr. Baker's death. Survivors include a son, Fay Baker, of Reno, and a grandson, Richard F. Baker, presently a student at the University of Nevada.
