Margaret Emily Krouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Krouse, was born in Kallenbien Germany, Jan. 27, 1843, and died at her home in Onslow, Aug. 14, 1930. at the age of 87 years 6 months and 17 days. Her parents came from Germany to Chicago, Illinois, when she was but a year and a half old. In 1851, however, the Krouse family came to Iowa where they settled, after the covered wagon trip, in Jones county, between the present towns of Onslow and Center Junction. The family consisted of the parents and seven children, five sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Reede being the last member of her father's family. The home farm was in the family until the death of John Krouse a few years ago when the farm was purchased by John Hanken. May 26,1863, Margaret Emily Krouse became the wife of W. H. H. Reade. After their marriage they went to farming north of the North Mineral church. To them were born seven children, Mary, Esther, Lilly, Ella, Margaret, Lulu, and Henry. Mr. Reade died In 1921. The Krouse and Reade families have always been identified with the Methodist church since coming to America, Mrs. Reade was of a kindly disposition, cheerful, generous, and a great lover of flowers. She delighted in the family gatherings' on Christmas and her birthdays. A devout believer in the Christ, as the saviour, she always planned that as little work as possible should be done on the Sabbath day. She leaves to mourn, six children: Mrs. Mary Livingstone of Waterloo, Mrs. Esther McDonald of Center Junction, Mrs. Lilly Roberts of Wyoming, Mrs. Ella Curttright of Rockwell City, Mrs. Lulu Neelan of Seattle. Wash., and one son, Henry, of Onslow, who has made a home for his mother. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
