Read More	Mrs. Earl Shook Buried Thursday Sad Death of Young Wife Leaves Family of Seven Children One of the saddest death this community has known in sometime was that of Mrs. Earl Shook, who died in the Presbyterian Hospital in Omaha, Tuesday morning, August 12. Mrs. Shook had been very ill for more than six weeks and a little more than a week before her death was taken to the hospital. There she underwent an operation for gall stones from which she seemed to rally nicely. However, on Sunday she was again taken worse and another operation became necessary. From this she was not able to rally and died early Tuesday morning. She was brought to Malvern to the late home west of town. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock and interment was made in the Malvern Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Brittell, assisted by the Rev. Walter C. Plank. A special quartet, Mrs. L. A. Talbott and Mrs. F. R. Chantry and R. W. Criswell and J. R. McClymond, with Mrs. G. S. Eacrett at the piano, sang. Pall bearers were, Frank Kochersperger, Joe McLain, Harry Dunlap, Francis Parker, John Parker, and Emmett Cardiff. Quantities of beautiful flowers testified to the high esteem and love of those who knew Mrs. Shook. the following obituary was read: Margaret Francis Wiles was born in White Cloud, Kansas, November 22, 1886. At the age of one year, she moved with her parents to Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. August 29, 1906, she was united in marriage with Earl M. Shook. To this union seven children were born, Irma, Myrza, Miriam, Ethel, Max, Wanda, and Byron. In early life she became a Christian and united with the Methodist Church of Hastings, Iowa. Her life was marked by her untiring effort to be of help to others. Her great joy was to be at home among her children. Her friends are numbered by her acquaintances. Mrs.. Shook had been ailing for about six weeks with gall stone trouble and was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital in Omaha on Tuesday, August 5th and on Thursday submitted to a surgical operation. She rallied and seemed to be holding her own until a second operation was found necessary the following Monday afternoon. She rallied and fought hard to regain her hold on life, but had to give up the fight at 2 o'clock a.m. August 12, 1924. She went home to her maker where we all shall be reunited after a while. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband and seven children all at home and one sister, Mrs. S. E. Pollitt of Malvern. Her father and mother and one sister preceded her in death. A loved one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled. There is a vacant place in our home, Which never can be filled. Those from away who came for the funeral are: Thos Wiles, Jamesport, Missouri, an uncle; an aunt, Mrs. Anna Smith of Coffee, Missouri; a sister of Mr. Shook, Mrs. W. E. Silkett of Kellerton, Avaron Wiles of Omaha; and numerous relatives from Glenwood, Emerson, and Champion Hill. Malvern Leader, August 21, 1924, page 3
