They were the parents of Joe, Ina, George, and Luella Cobie. ACKLEY — Mrs. John Cobie. 65, died at her home here Monday evening. Mrs. Cobie was born on a farm in Grundy county. Mr. and Mrs. John Cobie were married 44 years ago. Surviving are her husband and four children, Joe and George Cobie and Mrs. John Lindeman all of Grundy county, and Mrs Gerald Hook of Wellsburg; five granddaughters, four brothers, Richard Heykens, Harry Heykens, Isaac Heykens and Will Heykens all of Spencer, and three sisters Mrs. Dick Beving, Mrs. Heye Miller and Mrs. B. U. Beving, all of Spencer. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at East Friesland and burial will be made in cemetery adjoining the church. The Rev. C. F. Siemsen will officiate. JOHN COBIE - Funeral services for Mrs. John Cobie, whose death occurred Monday Jan. 22, after an illness of considerable length, are to be held Thursday afternoon at the Cobie residence in Ackley, and later in the afternoon at the East Friesland German Presbyterian church, in German township, eight miles southeast of Ackley; services to be conducted by Rev. C.F. Siemsen, pastor of the congregation. Mrs. Cobie was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Heikens, early day pioneer residents of north Grundy county. The date of her birth was September 9, 1873; she grew to womanhood and lived in German township through the years. United in marriage to John Cobie, who, with several members of the family, brothers and sisters, survive her. Several years ago the family left the farm and came to Ackley. Burial of the remains will be in East Friesland cemetery. JOHN COBIE- Funeral Services Held for Her Last Thursday - Survivors. - Mrs. Margaret Heikens (John) Cobie, who died at the family home in Ackley, Monday, January 22nd, was buried in the cemetery of East Friesland German Presbyterian church, eight miles southeast of Ackley, in German township, on the following Thursday afternoon; services conducted by Rev. C.F. Siemsen, pastor of the church. Deceased was born in German township, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Heikens; they were among the earlier residents of that community, and for years they and their children were active in all community affairs. Mrs. Cobie was one of eleven sons and daughters of the Heikens family; four of the sisters are dead, while several, with the several brothers, are still living. The deceased are: Mrs. Ben Bleeker, Mrs. Henry Eggers, Mrs. Fred Tjaden, Mrs. Joe Kramer. The living are: Henry Heikens, Richard Heikens, Mrs. D.E. Beving, Mrs. D.U. Beving, Mrs. Heye Miller, Isaac and William Heikens, all residents of Spencer, Clay county, Iowa. She and Mr. Cobie were united in marriage, February 13, 1896; for a time, three years, the couple lived on a farm in Hardin county; then removed to a farm in German township, north Grundy, southeast of Ackley, where they lived and where their children were born, for thirty-seven years; until their coming to Ackley four years ago. During the years of Mrs. Cobie's residence in German township, she took active part in all the social affairs, helpful to neighbors and friends, and at all times interested in the welfare and well-being of others. She is mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends.
