Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe, Nebraska Margaret was born September 27, 1921, nine miles north of Arapahoe, Nebraska in Gosper County, Nebraska to Karl F.J. and Ida (Hartman) Wendland. Margaret was the 10th child of 12 siblings. They grew up north of Arapahoe, Nebraska and went to Immanuel Lutheran School in Gosper County, Nebraska. She was baptized Octo 23, 1924, and confirmed May 17, 1936, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County, Nebraska. Her mother died when she was 16 years old, so she took over being the caregiver by doing all of the household chores for her father and her six brothers and five sisters. Margaret Ida Wendlund and Leonard A. Dahms were married February 8, 1942 in Blue Hill, Nebraska. She and her husband made their home in Blue Hill, Nebraska where she raised large gardens and had chickens. She cleaned and sold the chickens to the workers of the Ammunition Depot at Hastings. In 1960, they moved back to Arapahoe, Nebraska. They bought the Dairy Queen in Arapahoe, Nebraska and renamed it Dahms Drive-In. She continued to run it for more than 40 years. After retirement, she moved to Prairie Pines, Good Samaritan Assisted Living, and later to C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, all of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and the Lutheran Women's Mission League. Margaret is survived by: son, Douglas Dahms and his wife, Mary, of Arvada, Colorado; daughter, Mary Connelly and her husband, Albert, of Ringwood, New Jersey.; sister, Helene Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, Nebraska; and a host of friends and relatives. Margaret was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: parents, Karl F. J. and Ida Wendlund; husband Leonard A. Dahms; son, Dennis Lee Dahms; brothers, Carl, Max, Leonard, Martin, George and Victor Wendland and sisters, Henrietta Warner, Emma Monter, Elvera Bloch and Bertha Kalthoff.
