Description	:	Margaret Klawitter, daughter of Jasper McMurphy and Helen (Furness) McMurphy, was born September 14, 1910, on a farm near Magnet, Nebraska. She was raised on the family farm and received her early education from the Wayne and Magnet Schools. She graduated from Wayne High School and attended Wayne State College where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She then taught school in Edgar, Trumbull, Rosalie and Nelson Schools. Read More	Margaret Klawitter, daughter of Jasper McMurphy and Helen (Furness) McMurphy, was born September 14, 1910, on a farm near Magnet, Nebraska. She was raised on the family farm and received her early education from the Wayne and Magnet Schools. She graduated from Wayne High School and attended Wayne State College where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She then taught school in Edgar, Trumbull, Rosalie and Nelson Schools. On June 4, 1939, in Wayne, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to Albert G. Klawitter. This union was blessed with a daughter, Sandra. She was a member and past president of PEO, a member and past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, a member and past department and state president of the World War I Barracks Auxiliary and a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Margaret loved to play bridge and cards of any kind. She had made many Africans which she shared with family and friends. She had moved to the Nelson Good Samaritan Center to make her home on February 6, 1989. She had also worked as a bookkeeper for Don Doher and the Welfare Department. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Albert on February 21, 1985; and a sister Berniece Bakerink. She is survived by her daughter Sandra and her husband Darwin Sterkel of rural Edgar, Nebraska; a grandson Doug Sterkel; a brother John McMurphy and his wife Doris of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and a sister-in-law, Stella Klawitter of Nelson Good Samaritan Center. Margaret passed away on November 22, 1991, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held Monday, November 25, 1991, at 2:00 p.,m. from the Nelson community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by Alford and James Hanson singing a duet of "How Great Thou Art" and "Whispering Hope" with Jan Schnitker as organist and accompanist. Casket bearers were Dick Hanson, Ralph Bottenfield, Leslie Troudt, Pat Moore, Denis Moore and Coke Troudt. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson Nebraska.
