Description	:	Margaret Cassell, 91, of Pierre died on Friday, July 13, 2007 at her home in Pierre. Margaret Cassell was born April 28, 1916 at Steele City, NE to Ila Mae (Stewart) and Lewis Bugbee. She graduated from high school in Steele City. She attended college at Peru Teacher's College and taught school in Jefferson and Gage counties in Nebraska. Margaret Cassell was born April 28, 1916 at Steele City, NE to Ila Mae (Stewart) and Lewis Bugbee. She graduated from high school in Steele City. She attended college at Peru Teacher's College and taught school in Jefferson and Gage counties in Nebraska. Margaret married Edward Cassell on May 4, 1940 and they lived in various places in Nebraska while her husband worked as a game warden and land manager. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Diane Kay and a son, Stewart Edward (Bud). The family moved to Pierre in 1956. Margaret resumed her teaching career, teaching at the elementary level in Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson schools. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 from the University of South Dakota at Springfield. She was a faithful member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Pierre and spent many hours in volunteer work at the church having taught Sunday School, Bible School and served in various capacities in church offices. She was a former member of Pierre Education Association, SD Education Association and National Education Association until her death. She was a member of Riggs Guild, Delta Kappa Gamma, Senior Citizens center, Retired Teachers and Hospital Auxiliary. She gave freely of her time to the hospital gift shop and served many years as a telephone reassurance worker for the hospital. She attended a Bible study group each week for many years, and was a faithful servant to friends. Her husband preceded her in death in 1974. She remained in Pierre and continued to teach until she retired in 1981. She is survived by her children, Stewart (Darby) Cassell of Davis, CA and Diane (Larry) Hines of Sturgis, SD; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard Bugbee of Steele City, NE; 1 sister, Bonnie Edwards of Kansas City, MO; many nieces nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, grandparents and her brother, Virgil Bugbee in 1993. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, July 17 at Congregational United Church of Christ, Pierre, SD with Pastor Susan Carr and Father John Tarrant officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Steele City, Nebraska. Arrangements by Isburg Funeral Chapels.
