Tipton Daily Tribune Thursday, September 21, 1922 PIONEER LADY DEAD Mrs. Margaret Rubush, 89, Died Thursday Morning. Mrs. Margaret Rubush, a pioneer mother of Tipton County died Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Adams west of Sharpsville in the Groomsville vicinity. Her death followed a long illness due to complications, incident to her advanced years. Her condition had been extremely critical for the past three weeks and her death had been expected at any hour. Mrs. Rubush had been a resident of the county since 1869, having come here with her husband and family from Greenville Tennessee. She was born in Augusta county Virginia, November 30th, 1835 and would have soon reached, her 89th birthday anniversary. She was the daughter of Jacob and Frances (Jackson) Snyder, pioneers of that section. She was married August 10th, 1851 to George Rubush of Staunton Virginia and they went to housekeeping in that state. They lived in Virginia until 1866 when they moved to Tennessee and resided there one year. When they came to Tipton county they located on a farm north of Tipton near Jackson and lived there until Mr. Rubush's death in May 1909. She remained in her home until about 9 years ago when she gave up her home and went to Sharpesville to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ed Westfall. She was taken to the home of Mrs. Adams a few months ago, the children thinking it would do her good. Of eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Rubush, six survive their mother: J.A. Rubush of Indianapolis, Mark & C.O. Rubush of Tipton, Ozro Rubush of Gaston and Mrs. Ed Westfall and Mrs. Jack Adams of Sharpsville. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren. The deceased was a member of United Brethern church, and although retaining her membership in her old home church at Stanton, Va. She attended other churches and was known as a good Christian woman and a neighbor and friend who always found time to help and be of service where needed, besides being devoted to her home and family. Funeral services will be held at Saturday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. C. H. Powerl, of Sharpsvillle. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery at Tipton.
