Description	:	Mrs. William Zielke, on of the pioneer women of Cheyenne County, passed away at her home near here last Saturday. Read More	Mrs. William Zielke, on of the pioneer women of Cheyenne County, passed away at her home near here last Saturday. Mrs. Zielke with the exception on one year, has lived in this county since 1886. Th following brief history of her life was written for the Herald by a friend of the family. Marie Bohnen was born February 22, 1863, at Chester, Randolph County, Illinois. She passed away at her home south of St. Francis Saturday morning, September 16 at 6:15 o'clock after an illness of several months, having reached the age of 79 years, 6 months and 25 days. Those who knew her and cared for her during her illness laud her patience in suffering. Her parents brought her to the Lord in Baptism and on the 22nd of May, 1877 she was confirmed in the Lutheran Church where she was a member until death came. In 1869 she moved with her parents to Seward County, Nebraska. March 5, 1882 she was united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. William Zielke. To this union 9 children were born, 4 daughters and 5 sons. They are Mrs. Augusta Nelson and Mrs. Minnie Althouse of Utica, Nebraska; Mrs. Lena Bereuter of Gresham, Nebraska; Albert, Arthur, and George of St. Francis and Henry and Herman of Bird City. One daughter having preceded her in death in 1886. In the spring of 1886 she came with her husband to Cheyenne County, Kansas, locating on a farm south of Bird City. On August 1, 1894 the Zielke family moved to Randolph County, Illinois, but again returned to Cheyenne County, Kansas in 1895, again locating south of Bird City. Later the family moved on a farm south of St. Francis, wherethe deceased spent the last 30 years of her life. Funeral services in charge of undertaker Churchill were conducted Monday afternoon from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Valley by Rev. F. Jungek. Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery in Cheyenne Valley. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, 8 children, one brother, one sister, 18 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
