In 1844 she was married to William H. Ashby in Montgomery county, Indiana. Daughter of John Henry Boyer and Mary Magdalena Wolfley OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 8, 1903 ASHBY Margaretta Boyer was born in Pickaway county, Ohio, October 28, 1822. In 1844 she was married to William H. Ashby in Montgomery county, Indiana. In 1861 the family removed to this county and for about forty-two years, they resided in Ottercreek township, except the father, whose death occurred in 1875. Last summer Mrs. Ashby was very sick with pneumonia from which she never fully recovered, and a short time ago, a second attack came which caused her death at the home of her son, G. L. Ashby, on December 30th, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 1 day Mr. and Mrs. Ashby were early settlers in this county. They represented the best type of citizenship; honest, upright and Christian in their everyday life, and by their demise the community sustained a great loss. They were the parents of nine children. One daughter, Elizabeth, and one son, John, are deceased. The others were all present at the funeral of their mother and are: Mrs. Mary Long of Indianola, N. B. of Des Moines, T. D., G. L., L. S., W. E. and A. C., who reside in the county. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Norwood, of which the deceased was a most devout member. An old friend, Rev. W. B. Thompson, conducted the solemn service, and the remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground at Norwood. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
