Beck Were Held Sunday at Lutheran Church Another of the community's fine pioneer mothers passed away the past week, Mrs. Frederick P. Beck, who has been seriously ill for several weeks passed away at the St. Joseph hospital last Friday. Being the wife of a virile and ambitious young farmer Mrs. Beck's early life was a replica of that of many who fought shoulder to shoulder with their husbands to blaze and conquer the wilderness that we might enjoy the fruits and blessings of their labor. Margretha Hansen was born June 6, 1855 in Jererup, Denmark, and was reared in that country. In 1878 she came to America to join her prospective husband, and on October 12 of the same year, she was united in marriage to Frederick P. Beck. To this union were born eight children, four of whom preceded her in death, two dying in infancy, one daughter in girlhood, and a son in manhood. Her husband and four children, P. H. Beck, H. H. Beck, W. H. Beck and Mrs. F. D. Miller, fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends survive her. She departed this life June 28, 1935, after an illness of about ten days, at the age of 80 years, and 22 days. She joined the Lutheran Church in Denmark, her membership was transferred to the Glasco Lutheran church several years ago. Mrs. Beck was a great homebody a loving mother, a lover of children and of flowers. She will be greatly missed by all. One of her outstanding characteristics was her love for little boys an girls, and she was a grandmother to each and everyone. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 30, 1935 at St. Paul's Lutheran church, the Rev. George R. Wittecar, Beloit, officiating. Burial in Glasco Cemetery. The pall bearers were six grandsons, Frederick, Albert, James, Lawrence, and Robert. The Honorary pall bearers were six granddaughters, Mrs. Etta Warner, Mrs. Marie Grittman, Mrs. Dora Prochaska, Mrs. Margretha Groves, Mrs. Vera Brown and Miss Alice Beck. One grandson, Leslie Beck was unable to be present the other grand daughter, Mrs. Melva Martin had charge of the flowers. The singers were Miss Laura Olson, Miss Ota Studt, Mr. Paul Studt and Mrs. Albert Gruenthal. Organist, Miss Anna Olson. The songs were: "Sometime We'll Understand," "Beautiful Isie of Somewhere," and "Rock of Ages." ---
