As a businesswoman, Marguerite managed the Oxford Sears office for 38 years in addition to owning and operating rental properties. Born in Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Cameron) Cloney. She attended Normal College and Acadia University, later teaching in Wallace Bay and substitute teaching in the Oxford area. As a businesswoman, Marguerite managed the Oxford Sears office for 38 years in addition to owning and operating rental properties. She was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church and Ladies Circle, and Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 7, Oxford. She will be best remembered for her love of family and friends, her interest in travel, reading, crossword puzzles, painting and other crafts. Throughout her life, she particularly enjoyed summers at Heather Beach. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Lynn Hewson, Oxford; Margaret Belle Talbot, Halifax; Lisa Jon Hewson, Canning; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Geneva) Cloney, Oxford; sister-in-law, Marjorie Cloney, Oxford; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John F. Hewson; daughters, Linda and Mary; brothers, Russell and Ray. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today with Colfax Rebekah Lodge Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 10, all in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford (447-2930).
