Description	:	BURKE, MARGUERITE GLADYS—Marguerite Gladys Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Burke of Geneva, Neb., died at the Covenant Hospital in Omaha, Neb., December 8, 1933. Marguerite was visiting at the home of Mrs. Mona Shirley, when she was taken ill with an acute attack of appendicitis. Apparently, following an emergency operation, she was doing well when complications reversed the early hopeful outcome for her recovery, and she passed away at 2:10 Friday afternoon, December 8, 1933. Read More	BURKE, MARGUERITE GLADYS—Marguerite Gladys Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Burke of Geneva, Neb., died at the Covenant Hospital in Omaha, Neb., December 8, 1933. Marguerite was visiting at the home of Mrs. Mona Shirley, when she was taken ill with an acute attack of appendicitis. Apparently, following an emergency operation, she was doing well when complications reversed the early hopeful outcome for her recovery, and she passed away at 2:10 Friday afternoon, December 8, 1933. The body was returned to her home accompanied by her cousin, Mark J. Burke of Omaha. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church requiem high mass being celebrated by her pastor, Monsignor P. J. Healy. Interment was in the family lot in the Geneva Cemetery. Marguerite was born January 1, 1909, at Lawton, Ia. She came to this community at an early age, practically her whole life having been spent in and around Geneva. As a child she attended St. Joseph’s parochial school. She graduated from the Geneva High School with the class of 1926. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Burke, and three brothers, Paul, Mark, and Roscoe, numerous relatives and friends. Marguerite was of a happy cheerful disposition and made many war friends, who sorrow with her family in her passing at such an early age. The Nebraska Signal 14 December 1933 front page.
