She died 13 May 1929 at her home in Aberdeen, Brown Co., SD. =================================== Aberdeen American News Aberdeen, South Dakota Monday, May 13, 1929 edition ABERDEEN WOMAN DIES SUDDENLY Mrs. Clausen Had Been Ill a Week; Was Born in Germany Mrs. Maria C. Clausen, wife of Asmus Clausen of 109 Sixth avenue southeast, passed away at the home this morning at the age of 69 years, after a brief illness of a week's duration, suffering with heart trouble. Mrs. Clausen was born in Germany, October 13, 1859, where she grew to young womanhood and where in 1881 she was married to Asmus Clausen. A year later they came to the United States, locating at Dennison [sic], Iowa, where they resided for 23 years. In 1905 the fmaily [sic] moved to Spink county, near Turton, where they lived until four years ago, when they came to Aberdeen. Leaves Nine Children She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, six daughters and three sons, Fred Carl and Otto Clausen, Mrs. E.W. Siebrecht, Mrs. Geo. Sievers, Mrs. Elmer Olson and Mrs. Carl Nelson, all of Turton and Martha and Amanda living at home; also a sister and two brothers living abroad. At this time she took into the home and mothered her daughter's two sons, Fred and Clarence Lenth. She also leaves 19 grandchildren. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the church at Ashton. Interment will be in the family lot at Ashton.
