She came with her family to America when she was nineteen years old, and they settled in Illinois, where she was united in marriage to Peter P. Johnson, August 19, 1876. She came with her family to America when she was nineteen years old, and they settled in Illinois, where she was united in marriage to Peter P. Johnson, August 19, 1876. In 1894 she and her husband came to Iowa, first living near Harcourt, afterwards near Paton, thence moving to Boxholm where they lived until they came to Dayton in 1918. To Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were born seven children, a daughter and six sons. Three sons passed away in early childhood. Three sons, John of this place, and James and Frank of Paton, and the daughter Mrs. Effie Heitkamp of Boxholm, survive with the sorrowing husband to mourn her passing. Mrs. Johnson was confirmed into the Lutheran church at fifteen years of age, and never left the church of her faith. She lived among her family and friends a quiet, sweet Christian life. She was cheerful and sweet natured, even in the suffering of her illness, and gave testimony before she passed away that she was resigned to God's will and ready to go. Her funeral was held from the family home last Sunday afternoon Rev. Walker of Grace M. E. Church conducting the services, and her remains were laid to rest in Dayton cemetery. A hot of friends of the bereaved family sympathize with them in her passing.
