Mrs. Kruse was born Feb. 16, 1910, in Preston Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. Theodore P. and Marie F. (Gehrecke) Meyer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended rural school. She married Louis H. Kruse on June 10, 1936, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Grant Township until 1973, when they moved to Le Mars. He died June 13, 1981. Mrs. Kruse had been a resident at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center the past few years, where she was active in the center’s programs. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church ELCA and a past member of St. John Lutheran Church In Preston Township, where she was active in church activities. She had been an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Wendell and Jolene of Ireton, Iowa, the Rev. Alfred and Jane of Readlyn, Iowa, and Ralph and Charlene of Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Elaine and Jerry McFarlane of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a brother, the Rev. J. T. Meyer of Mendota, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. The Sioux City Journal, March 26, 1997
