Lohmeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lohmeier. At eight o'clock a. m. the bridal couple accompanied by Miss Hazel Farry, sister of the bride and Charley Lohmeier, brother of the groom, marched to the strains of Lohengren's (sic) wedding chorus. They were met at the foot of the altar by Rev. L. A. Dunphy, where the wedding vows were pronounced. Raymond Weston cousin of the bride and. Lawrence Lohmeier, assisted Father. Dunphy during the Nuptial Mass. Several beautiful selections were rendered by Clara Lohmeier, while Marie Finnigan of Grafton, presided at the organ. The bride was tastefully gowned in a broad cloth suit, with a blouse of real lace, a white picture hat and gloves to match. The bridesmaid wore a blue broad cloth suit, lace blouse and large blue hat. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party went to the home of the bride's mother; where a five course wedding breakafst (sic) was served to forty relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lohmeier left on No. 12 for a weeks visit to various points in the east. They will be at home to their friends on a farm south west of Sutton after March 1st . Many beautiful and useful gifts were received. The many friends of the bride and groom extend their heartiest congratulations for a long and happy wedded life. =========================== The Clay County News (Sutton, NE), Thursday, May 24, 1956; pg. 4 Mrs. Sam Lohmeier Passes - Funeral services for Mrs. Sam Lohmeier, who passed away in a Lincoln hospital early Monday afternoon, will be held at St. Mary Catholic church (sic) in Suttton Friday morning at 9:30, with Father John F. Hennessy officiating. Rosary was held at the church Wednesday evening at 8 and similar service will be at the Lohmeier residence this evening at 8. Mrs. Lohmeier had been afflicted with a heart ailment for the past several months, and her condition was known to be serious, although it was thought to be not critical. Recent examinations indicated that she was more than holding her own, but a blood clot Monday resulted in her being taken to Lincoln. Death came early in the afternoon. She was 60 years of age. Lohmeier were held at St. Mary's Catholic church (sic) in Sutton Friday morning, May 25th. Father John F. Hennessy was in charge. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery (sic). Pall bearers were nephews of the deceased: Francis Weiler, Jr., Jerry Weiler and Donald Keller of Lincoln; James Lohmeier and Thomas VanDorn of Omaha; and Jack Lohmeier of Colorado Springs, Colo. Mary Etta Farry, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Farry, was born in Sutton August 31, 1895 and passed away at a Lincoln hospital Monday, May 21st, at the age of 60 years, eight months and twenty days. Mrs. Lohmeier suffered a heart attack while visiting in the home of her son, Dean, at Waterloo, Ia., a year ago. She was hospitalized for a time, but had returned to her home in Sutton. Her condition was known to be serious, although it was thought by the family that she was showing recovery. A blood clot developed Monday morning, and she was rushed to a Lincoln hospital, death coming shortly after. Mrs. Lohmeier was a life long member of St. Marys church (sic), baptized, confirmed having been and married in the church. She attended schools in the community. She was united in marriage to Sam G. Lohmeier on Feb. 6th, 1917, the young couple making their home near Sutton. They farmed in the community until moving to town in 1950. For eighteen yean they lived on the former Weston farm just east of Sheridans. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lohmeier, one daughter, Ethel, preceding her in death in 1934. Her parents and a sister; Dora, also preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Sam G. Lohmeier, of Sutton; her children, Harold of Palo Alto, Calif.; Donald of Hebron;. Jerry of Lincoln; Mrs. Mark Carraher, Jr., (Virginia) of San Mateo, Calif.; Wayne of Omaha; Dean of Waterloo, la.; Merle of Lincoln; Mrs. Robert Morrissey (Kathleen) of Mullen; Marcella and Ray of Sutton; Larry, stationed with the U. S. Air Force in Japan; and Francis of Sutton. Also left to mourn her passing are a brother, Ed Farry of Sutton; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Lohmeier of Lincoln and Mrs. Agnes VanDorn of Omaha; six daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 22 grandchildren and many more distant relatives friends. Mrs. Lohmeier's whole interests were in her family and her church. She knew the struggle of a farm wife during the thirties, with a growing family. But she remained steadfast her faith, in her devotion to family, and she lived to see most of their place in life as she had wished and trained them to do. In attendance at the final services were all the members of her immediate family and many friends and relatives from Sutton and surrounding communities. In addition, the following also were in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lohmeier and Mary Margaret, Mrs. F.B. Weiler and Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Weiler, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Donald Keller, Max Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. J. Blockwitz, Lincoln; Mrs. Agnes VanDorn and Mr. and Mrs. James Lohmeier, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Goble and Ronald, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heltenberg, Hebron.
