MARY RICE DIES HERE AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS Funeral services were held at the Sutphen Funeral Home Monday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Rice, 74, who died Saturday after a lingering illness. Burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Rev. E. M. Buehler was in charge of the services. Pall bearers were Lester Scott, Frank Hale, e. E. Jenkins, Glen Robe, Dr. G. T. Rumbaugh, and George T. With her family she moved to Montgomery County and located at Villisca in the spring of 1887. She was united in marriage April 24, 1889 to Ed Rice and to this union was born one son, who died in infancy. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Methodist Church in Villisca having united with the church in 1896 during the pastorate of Rev. W. G. Hohanshelt. She is survived by her husband, three brothers, L. C. Fessler of Monroe, Iowa, C. N. Fessler and Ed Fessler, both of Villisca, three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Thomason of Villisca, Mrs. H. H. McAdoo of Hamburg, and Mrs. Theresa Shiffer of Villisca.
