She was the widow of William A. Ladwig, who passed away in 1963. Their only son, Wilbur W. Ladwig, passed away in 1961. She was born March 25, 1878, the daughter of John and Louisa (Duvitz) Hoth, in the state of Iowa. On March 9, 1898, she was united in marriage to William A. Ladwig. They came to Newport from Sumner, Iowa in 1908, and built the present home on Warren Avenue in 1910, occupying it unitl their deaths. Upon settling in Newport, they purchased a furniture and variety store which they operated until their retirement in 1939. The Ladwigs joined the Methodist Church, now the Federated Church of Newport soon after their arrival. For over fifty years Mrs. Ladwig has been an active member of both the Rebekah and Royal Neighbor Lodges in this community, receiving from them the honors of half a century of membership. Survivors include one sister, Bertha Wilharm, one brother Henry Hoth, Maynard, Iowa, numerous nieces and nephews.
