Marie Margaret Grothe was born Feb. 11, 1908 at Randolph to Frank and Anna Kube Grothe and died Sept. 2, 1978 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. She entered the hospital Aug. 30. On June 11, 1929 she married John W. Maly of West Point at Randolph. They lived in Omaha for about one year and then moved to Creighton. They were the parents of nine children. Mrs. Maly was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a housekeeper for priests for several years. She was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church and St. Ludger Altar Society, of which she was a past president. Survivors include three sons, James C. Maly of Verdigre and Thomas and Robert P. of Omaha; five daughters, Mrs. John W. (Ruth) Wilmes of Tecumseh, Mrs. Gordon (Virginia) Fehringer of Bloomfield, Sister M. Susanne of Omaha, Mrs. Marvin (Mary Kay) Mlady of Verdigre and Susan Maly of Omaha; 16 grandchildren and two sisters, Sister Gwendolina of Campbellsport, Wisc. and Mrs. Victor (Margaret) Mabeus of Henning, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; a son, Joseph in 1941; two brothers, Henry and Frank Grothe and four sisters, Theresia Reinke, Clara Biernbaum, Agnes Meyer and Annie Grothe. ...The Creighton News 14 Sept 1978
