They were married on July 20, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, KS; and they were active members. Marie was born on a farm east of Herington, in Morris County, on July 8, 1924; the daughter of Carl F. and Ida B (Peters) Tiemann. She was an active member on the St. Paul Lutheran Church; where she was also baptized, confirmed, and married. She is survived by a brother Walter Tiemann (wife-Hatsune) of Colorado Springs. She is preceded in death by five (5) brothers (August, Alvin, Edwin, Arnold, & Arthur), and three (3) sisters (Amanda Albrecht, Ella Dyer, & Elsie Henke). Mrs. Anderson was employed by the Federal Land Bank, Wichita, and the Herington Hospital before becoming a full-time homemaker and farm wife. She was an active member of her church and WELCA. She served many funeral lunches and cut and served many pieces of pie at the annual steak dinner. She belonged to EHU for many years. She was a 4-H leader. She and Ann Sparke taught nutrition classes for eleven years at Herington Elementary School and surrounding schools in the area. She was a graduate of Herington High School with the class of 1942. Services will be held for Marie and Forrest on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 10:30AM, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30pm until 8:00pm at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; where Forrest and Marie will lie in state. The Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, is assisting with services. They are survived by their daughter Karen Korte and husband Gary of Emporia; grandchildren: Erik Korte (wife-Sarah), Ian Korte, & Erin Hauser (husband-Jayson); and a great granddaughter Mackenzie Karen Korte. The family is requesting memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church; and may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory – Herington Chapel, 404 South Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
