Marilyn was born September 8, 1932 to Fred and Nellie (Russell) Forbes at Palmer, NE. She grew up on the family farm and went to Glenwood country school. Read More	FULLERTON—Marilyn Ann Sonderup, 89, of Fullerton, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Litzenberg Memorial Long-Term Care in Central City. Marilyn was born September 8, 1932 to Fred and Nellie (Russell) Forbes at Palmer, NE. She grew up on the family farm and went to Glenwood country school. With weather permitting, she would ride her horse to school as much as she could. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1949 at the age of 16. She met her sweetheart, Vern Sonderup, at the age of 14 through a church youth group. They were united in marriage on October 28, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. They spent their early years at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. They prospered side by side in farming and raising purebred Charolais cattle. She and Vern enjoyed many years delivering bulls, camping, and winters in Texas. They were married for almost 63 years before Vern died in August 2013. Marilyn was a star at home and was always busy gardening, canning, chasing kids and cattle, running for parts, or driving the sileage or corn harvest trucks. She was known far and wide as a great cook—if you walked away from her house hungry from her table it was your own fault. Rice Krispy treats and pecan pies were blessings she passed on to friends and family in good times and bad. She would feed the world if she could. Marilyn also worked one day a week for over 30 years for Fullerton Livestock Market writing checks and clerking. She believed strongly in ones needing to serve others and was very involved in Community Church activities. She was active in the Nebraska Charolais Association, Fullerton Presbyterian Church (local and statewide committees), Flower Belles, FHS Alumni, Senior Center, Farm Bureau, and a Red Cross Coordinator for over 25 years. She loved being from Nebraska and cheering on the Cornhuskers. But most of all, she loved her family. They were her pride and joy and she made sure everyone knew it. She is survived by her children, Tom (Sandy) Sonderup of Fullerton, Mark (Kathy) Sonderup of Fullerton, and Nancy (Phil) Cole of Brule; 11 grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Hale, Jamie (Ben) Keep, Tracy (Brian) Gaston, Heidi (Stacey Singletary Jr.) Page, Melinda (Randy) Endorf, Ryan (Beth) Sonderup, Dr. Stephanie (Ben) Marcy, Heather (Justin) Stofer, Ty (Jen) Cole, Sam (Tami) Cole, and Katie (David) Keller; 18 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Charlotte, and Isabelle Hale, Miles Keep, Layla Page, Lora and Luke Sonderup, Ella and Teegan Stofer, Gavin and Lilly Endorf, Logan and Liam Marcy, Alex and Ellie Cole, Emma Cole, Nellie and Cooper Keller; brother, John (Karen) Forbes; sister, Dorothy (Duane) Dudney; sisters-in-law, Judy Sonderup and Elna Boardman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother and sisters-in-law, Fern (Paul) Smith, Doris (Burch) Fenstemaker, Norman (Shirley) Sonderup, Dale (Phyllis) Sonderup, Milo (Wanda) Sonderup, Lee Sonderup, Ruth (Lee) Bisel and her first husband, Bernie Callahan, Larry Sonderup, and Dick Boardman.
