Description	:	Marilyn Slobodnik Marilyn Gay Slobodnik, 74, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant. Born July 26, 1935, in Council Bluffs, she was the daughter of Gerhardt and Innocentia Munchrath Schneider. On Oct. 9, 1954, she married James Slobodnik in Council Bluffs. He died Aug. 4, 2004. Read More	Marilyn Slobodnik Marilyn Gay Slobodnik, 74, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant. Born July 26, 1935, in Council Bluffs, she was the daughter of Gerhardt and Innocentia Munchrath Schneider. On Oct. 9, 1954, she married James Slobodnik in Council Bluffs. He died Aug. 4, 2004. Mrs. Slobodnik was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and attended business school for two years. She moved to Mount Pleasant in 1970. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and bingo. Survivors include four sons, Francis Slobodnik of Topeka, Kan., Stephen Slobodnik of Mount Pleasant and Mark Slobodnik and Christopher Slobodnik, both of Spring Grove, Pa.; four daughters, Anne Russell of Davenport and Therese Slobodnik, Lisa Brooks and Cathy White, all of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, her twin, Gerald Schneider of Omaha, Neb., Clifford Schneider of Traverse City, Mich., and Donald Schneider of Corpus Christi, Texas; 29 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and her parents. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. followed by a Christian Vigil Service. The funeral Mass for Mrs. Slobodnik will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Central Iowa and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
