Description	:	MARION "BUS" HOLMES Marion Lowell "Bus" Holmes, son of Fred A. and Ida (Setterberg) Holmes, was born June 29, 1920, in Pierce Township, northwest of Essex and attended Center Country School and Essex High School. He was united in marriage with Rowene Skalberg on May 15, 1941, at Rock Port, Missouri, and to this union two sons, Gary and Roger were born. Read More	MARION "BUS" HOLMES Marion Lowell "Bus" Holmes, son of Fred A. and Ida (Setterberg) Holmes, was born June 29, 1920, in Pierce Township, northwest of Essex and attended Center Country School and Essex High School. He was united in marriage with Rowene Skalberg on May 15, 1941, at Rock Port, Missouri, and to this union two sons, Gary and Roger were born. Following their marriage, they farmed in Pierce Township where he was a lifelong resident. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents, Fred A. and Ida (Setterberg) Holmes. He is survived by his wife Rowene of rural Essex, Iowa; two sons Gary of Essex and Roger, who is stationed with the U. S. Navy in Mayport, Florida; one brother Carroll Holmes of San Francisco, California; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Norma) Maher of rural Essex, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Holmes died Friday morning, August 21, 1987, at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 67 years. Funeral services were conducted at the Hacket Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa, on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 1987. The Rev. Kim Kerchal officiated Dr. Charles Peterson was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Robert Young on the organ. Caring for flowers were Mrs. Clayton Ballinger and Mrs. Jim Bengston. Memorials were cared for by Nicki Saylor while Connie Saylor was at the memory register. Honorary bearers were Fred Alexander, Burton Allen, Ernie Anderson, Clayton Ballinger, Morris Coate, George Glassinger, Dick Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Marion Lembke, John Liljedahl, and Marlyn Lindburg. Casket bearers were Jim Bengston, Danny Franks, Harve Johnson, Terry Johnson, Ernest Liljedahl, and Donald Woodin. Interment was in the Essex Cemetery, Essex, Page County, Iowa, Fourth Addition, First Row, Lot 24.
