John Crosswhite officiating. Arrangements were by Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel of Red Oak. Mrs. Laverne Dickerson was organist and Mrs. Gary Smith sang two selections, “The Old Rugged Cross”; and “In the Garden”; The floral committee were Mrs. Fred Welsch and Mrs. Richard Allen. Interment was in Emerson Cemetery. Mrs. Lang was born January 26th, 1897, near Fullerton. NE. At the age of three, he and his parents, Frank and Julia, moved to a farm near Emerson. He attended school in Emerson and farmed with his father until he joined the Navy during World War I. Upon his discharge from the Navy he returned to the Emerson vicinity and to farming. He was married to Evangeline Crawford on May 5, 1920. She survives him, as does a daughter Annabelle (Mrs. John Clarke) of Redding, California and a son Eugene, of Treynor. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Diane (Mrs. Tom Romine) of Denver. CO; Cindy Lang of Omaha. NE; Greg Lang of Austin. TX; children of Eugene; Jay Clarke of Sunnyvale, CA and Julie (Mrs. Jim Ross) of Anderson, CA, children of Annabelle. There are also five great grandchildren: Johnny and Brian Clarke. Janette Ross and Eric and Laurie Romine. Marion Lang was a member of the Emerson United Methodist Church and a charter member of Levi Burton Post of the American Legion. He was a farmer at heart, even though he moved into Emerson in the early 1940’s. where he was in business for many years. His interests were first his family, then his friends and his community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a very good life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
