Description	:	Marion Garretson Goodrich, son of Charlie and Harriet Garretson Goodrich, was born in Malcom Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa on July 30, 1912, and died Friday, November 22, 1996, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell, Iowa. Read More	Marion Garretson Goodrich, son of Charlie and Harriet Garretson Goodrich, was born in Malcom Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa on July 30, 1912, and died Friday, November 22, 1996, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell, Iowa. Mr. Goodrich lived all of his life in the Malcom and Brooklyn area. He received his education in a rural school. On January 26, 1933, he was married to Florence Marie Bartachek in Malcom. They farmed for many years and built and operated the Flomar Restaurant on Highway 6 north of Brooklyn. In recent years he has been a resident of the Brookhaven Nursing home in Brooklyn. Mr. Goodrich was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Brooklyn. He served on the Board of Directors of Federal Land Bank and served on the Brooklyn School Board. He was a member of the American and Poweshiek County Angus Association. He was a salesman for McCurdy's Seeds for 50 years. For nine years Doc was active in the 4-H. During the 50's he sponsored teen dances and taught and called square dancing. He sponsored trophies for the 4-H and FFA County Fairs. Surviving are three sons, Lewis Goodrich and his wife , Marlou, of Norwalk, Gary Goodrich and his wife Karen, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Marvin Goodrich of Brooklyn; two daughters and their husbands, Joan and Roger Hall of Malcom and Mary Jane and Virgil Heishman of Brooklyn; three brothers, Vigil Goodrich of Marengo, Lotus Goodrich of Malcom, and Charles Goodrich of Malcom; three sisters, Viola Heath of Brighton, Colorado, Olevia Lidtka of Malcom, and Xavie Richman of Grinnell; 23 Grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and John Rupe of Grinnell who resided with the Goodrich family while attending high school. Mr. Goodrich was preceded in death by his parents; his wife who died June 8, 1994; one James, one brother; and two grandchildren. Source: Nevenhoven Funeral Services, Inc., records.
