Torberson), Melvin T. Sundvold, former sheriff of Lincoln County, and one child who died in infancy. (Anna Wilmine: Memorial 48374532) Mrs. Sundvold-the former Marit Enebo - was born in Lesjaskogen, Norway, November 5, 1850. She immigrated to America in 1880 and settled at Canton, where she married four years later. Bio of Marit's husband: Bernt T. Sundvold was among the early settlers of LaValley Township, where he homesteaded upon coming to Dakota Territory in 1876. For several years he farmed east of Lennox on the homestead and in 1900 with his wife retired from active duties and moved to Canton. They resided there until their deaths, Mrs. Sundvold passing away March 1, 1928. Mr. Sundvold attained the age of 95 years at the time of his death, June 22, that same year. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. O. Torberson near Canton. Mr. Sundvold was born in Aurdal, Valdres, Norway, April 15, 1833. He immigrated to the United States in 1851, settling at Madison, Wis. In 1858 he was united in marriage to Margaret Spaanem, and to this union eight children were born, namely: Bessie (Mrs. Thomas Ulrickson), Trina (Mrs. Ole Ulrickson), Ellen (Mrs. Otto Leopold), Anna (Mrs. Harry Royer), Martin, Henry, Bennie, and Theodore Sundvold. Mrs. Margaret Sundvold died in 1874 and Henry in 1925. In 1876 Mr. Sundvold continued his trek westward, leaving the Badger state and settling in Dakota Territory, near the present Lennox town site.
