Marjorie Adeline Eidem was born April 10, 1922 in rural Union County, South Dakota, the tenth and youngest child born to Gilbert and Mary (Jensen) Eidem. She attended LaMont Country School and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1940. On April 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Walsh in Elk Point. Walsh, 89, of Elk Point, SD, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at WEL-Life Assisted Living in Elk Point. Marjorie Adeline Eidem was born April 10, 1922 in rural Union County, South Dakota, the tenth and youngest child born to Gilbert and Mary (Jensen) Eidem. She attended LaMont Country School and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1940. On April 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Walsh in Elk Point. They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before Robert's death in 2006. After their marriage, the couple moved to the Walsh Family Farm where Marjorie took a very active part in the farming operation. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and morning coffee with her neighbors and friends. In 2008, she moved into WEL-Life Assisted Living in Elk Point where the staff and other residents became a part of her extended family. Survivors include her two sons and their wives, James (Jane) Walsh of New Ulm, MN, and Patrick (Cheryl) Walsh of Elk Point; her grandchildren, James (Kelsey) Walsh of Ellicott City, MD, Jody Walsh of Minneapolis, MN, Jason (Becca) Walsh of Sioux Falls, SD, Susan (Todd) Walsh-Radel of Tea, SD, Dominic Bonaiuto of Alexandria, VA, Robert (Allison) Walsh of Vermillion, John Walsh of Chester, OH, and Jeffrey Walsh of New Ulm, MN; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Walsh, Sebastian Bonaiuto, and Vincent Radel; her sister, Florence Wagner of Vermillion, SD, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, her brother, Herbert Eidem, and her seven sisters, Blanche Eidem, Alma Wagner, Gladys Cole, Alice Guy, Mildred Martinson, Grace Holscher, and Bernice Cwyner; and her one granddaughter, Jessica Bonaiuto. Visitation: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 605 East Main Street Elk Point South Dakota 57025 Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elk Point with the family being present from 6 to 7 at the church with a wake service to follow at 7 p.m. Service: 10:30 am on Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 605 East Main Street Elk Point South Dakota 57025 Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Opem officiating. Cremation will take place after the service on Monday.
