Read More	MARJORIE THOMPSON October 26, 1917-February 20, 2011 Marjorie Aletha Reed was born to Murry and Emma Reed on October 26, 1917, near Armour, Nebraska, in Pawnee County. She died on February 20, 2011, at the age of 93. Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Faith Baptist Church in Pawnee City, NE. Officiating was Paul Rohrbaugh. Inurnment was in the Pawnee City Cemetery. Her mother died on December 5, 1917, less than two months after giving birth to Marjorie. Her aunt Aletha helped raise Marjorie and her brother Ross, age four, following her mother's death. When Marjorie was seven her aunt Aletha died. Then, at age 12, Marjorie's father Murry died. At that time Ross went to live with Charlie Glasgow near Summerfield, Kansas, and Marjorie lived with relatives in the area through her school years. She attended Summerfield High School and in her senior year she graduated from Barneston High School where she sang in a girl's sextet at graduation ceremonies. She was living with her uncle Theodore and aunt Sadie Curry at that time. Following high school she worked as a telephone operator in Summerfield. There she met Ellis Thompson of Burchard, Nebraska, and they were married on August 10, 1938. Three children were born to this union including Carol (Arthur) Halfhide of Chadron, Nebraska, William (Janis) Thompson of Stromsburg, Nebraska, and the late James (Virginia) Thompson of Columbus, Ohio. Jim died on July 4, 1999. Marjorie and Ellis lived on farms near Burchard and Summerfield before moving to Pawnee City in 1946. After Ellis died in 1974, Marjorie worked as a live-in caregiver for the elderly. She also was a nanny for a family in Omaha where the kids loved her. In 1988 Marjorie made her home in Chadron with Carol and Art where she helped out with a cleaning business. She was active in the Bible Baptist Church, loved to talk about the Lord and was a prayer warrior on behalf of her family and to those she was planning to be a witness. In May 2007 she fell and broke her hip, then becoming a resident of Crestview Care Center in Chadron until her death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Ross and his wife Marie. Survivors include eight grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
