A week previously she was in her usual health, her mind filled with the ambitions of youth, and contentment in her assistance to her parents. Almost without warning she became quite ill, suffering great pain, from intestinal obstruction and adhesions, the doctors advising an operation. This was done in the hospital on Tuesday evening and with apparent success the patient rallying to the great satisfaction of the doctors and nurses. Shortly after noon on Wednesday she suddenly gave evidence of collapse, and despite the efforts of all the end came in a few hours. The shock was a particularly heavy one to the parents and other members of the family, as well as to the community, where the young lady was well known and most highly esteemed. This was amply evidenced in the exceptionally large attendance at the funeral on Friday, many paying a silent tribute of sympathy and respect to the bereaved family. She is survived by three brothers and 5 sisters. Rev. C.A. Jay of Monticello Circuit had charge of the service, and spoke words of comfort and consolation to the distressed family, referring to the sweetness of the character of Hazel, and of the eternal hope of a joyous resurrection and happy reunion in the great beyond. Six young boy friends of the deceased acted as pall bearers, Elgin Reilly, Elgin Cunningham, Elwood Galbraith, Ivan Bruce, Clarence Larter and Herb Reilly; while seven girl companions carried the numerous floral mementoes.
