Description	:	Marshall Earl Walters Dec. 7, 1916 -- Dec. 5, 2009 Port Townsend resident Marshall Earl Walters died of natural causes just short of his 93rd birthday. He was born to Herbert and Ruth (Hammer) Walters in what was then the Chimacum Post Office and graduated from Chimacum High School in 1935. He married Helen June Crutcher on June 28, 1941, and was pleased to be approaching his 70th wedding anniversary. Mr. Walters worked at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill before becoming a logger. Read More	Marshall Earl Walters Dec. 7, 1916 -- Dec. 5, 2009 Port Townsend resident Marshall Earl Walters died of natural causes just short of his 93rd birthday. He was born to Herbert and Ruth (Hammer) Walters in what was then the Chimacum Post Office and graduated from Chimacum High School in 1935. He married Helen June Crutcher on June 28, 1941, and was pleased to be approaching his 70th wedding anniversary. Mr. Walters worked at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill before becoming a logger. Then, for more than 30 years, he was employed by the Jefferson County Road Department, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Operators Union. In the community, he was the oldest Chimacum High School alumnus and oldest member of the Elks Lodge in Port Townsend. In addition to playing (and winning) killer cribbage, he enjoyed breakfasting at the Salal Cafe, eating Chinese food from the Moon Palace in Sequim, keeping a beautiful and immaculate yard and cruising Port Townsend with his wife. Mr. Walters was known for his sense of humor and for enjoying family and friends. Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters-in-law M. Reed and Bonnie Walters of Chimacum and Paul J. and Marianne Walters of Port Townsend; grandchildren Jessica and Jim Ellis, Brenda Walters, Kimberly Waters, Christina Walters, Mark J. Walters and Kelly and Bob Sweeney. He also left eight great-grandchildren. Services: Friday, Dec. 11, 2 p.m., memorial in the Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., Port Townsend. Past Exalted Ruler Wayne Nagy and current Elks officials will officiate. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Charity of choice. The family requests no flowers.
