Obituary - Vindicator, April, 1939, page 126 Martha A. Miller, daughter of David and Margaret Shively, was born near North Manchester, Ind. Jan. 30, 1862, departed this life Feb. 25, 1939 at the age of 77 years and 26 days. She was united in marriage to Christian Miller who preceded her in death only about 6 weeks. To this union were born six children, one having passed away in infancy and Lavina Hausman in 1919. The living are Esta Miller where she had her home at the time of death, which is just across the road from where she was born, and Mary Miller, Emma Heeter, of near North Manchester and Clarence Miller of Silver Lake., Ind. She leaves one brother, Samuel Shivley and one sister, Mary Shock, both of North Manchester, Ind., also 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren to mourn her departure. She had been afflicted with rheumatism and other ailments for nearly thiry years and was confined to her house and chair for twenty-five years. Through all of her suffering and affliction, she bore it patiently and with a smile for all. She maintained her integrity in Christ whom she accepted and became a member of the Old German Baptist Church nearly fifty years ago. She also received much comfort from reading her Bible while she was confined to her chair and room "In your patience possess ye your soul". Funeral by the undersigned assisted by Elder J. M. Coning.
