She lived in and around Nodaway almost her entire life and has many friends here who are saddened to learn of her death. Martha Ellen Heller, oldest daughter of Jacob and Lydia Heller, was born February 9, 1870 at Bryon, Illinois. Mrs. Martha Heller Parcher, 83 years, 5 months, and 28 days, passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning on Thursday, August 6, 1953, after a lingering illness. In 1872 the family moved to a home near Nodaway, in the vicinity of which she has spent the remainder of her life. On December 6, 1884, she was united in marriage to Frank Parcher, who preceded her in death on March 17 1952. To this union was born five children, all of whom survive, and all of whom visited her and aided in her care during this last illness. The children are Mamie Lynam of Corning, Harold of Oakland, California, Mary Spencer of Guthrie Center, Neal of Louisville, Kentucky, and Paul of Chicago. In addition she leaves to mourn her loss, one sister Emma, one brother, Frank, both of Nodaway, one son-in-law, two daughter-in-laws, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Parcher was a member of the Methodist Church of Nodaway, and of the W. F. C., her father bing a Civil War Veteran. She was a home loving person whose greatest delight was to have her family about her and be able to minister to them. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 9, at 2 p.m., from the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway, with the Rev. William Niles officiating. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Pall bearers were Roscoe Simpson, Lonnie Bowman, Ted Kennedy, Duane Pond, Clyde Vaughn, and Julius March. Music was by Cecil Weaver of Villisca, accompanied by Mrs. Martin Taylor, also of Villisca. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parcher of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Parcher, Jeanne Parcher, Mrs. Charles Wilmoth, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bondurant of Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Burr and son, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Spencer and son of Guthrie Center; Mrs. Mahlon Pryor and daughter of Panora; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lynam of Greenfield; Mr. and Mrs Merle Smith of Grant; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brown of Villisca; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lynam, Mrs. Mamie :Lynam, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parcher of Villisca.
