Description	:	Martha Jane and her parents, Daniel and Mary Simpson, are listed in the 1850 Census living in Fayette, IN. They later moved to Clark County, IL, where Martha married Andrew Baker on 11-Sep-1859 (just after her 15th birthday). The 1870 US Census shows that in 1870 Andrew Baker (a blacksmith, age 30) was living in Clay County, Dakota Territory, with wife Martha (age 27, born in Indiana); two daughters born in Illinois: Ellen Lydia and MARY ANN; son Seth S.,who was born in Iowa; and daughter Ida, who was born in the Dakota Territory.Some accounts say Andrew and Martha had... The 1870 US Census shows that in 1870 Andrew Baker (a blacksmith, age 30) was living in Clay County, Dakota Territory, with wife Martha (age 27, born in Indiana); two daughters born in Illinois: Ellen Lydia and MARY ANN; son Seth S.,who was born in Iowa; and daughter Ida, who was born in the Dakota Territory.Some accounts say Andrew and Martha had another son, Franklin, in 1869, but he was not listed on the 1870 Census. Daughter Rachael Ruby was born in 1871. Andrew and Martha are listed as parents of a girl born in Licking Township, Crawford, IL on 5FEB1879. This was probably Bessie Lenoir Elliott Coy, FAG 186425180, who is shown on the 1900 census as living in Coles, IL with Martha's sister, Mary Ann Elliott. Martha and Andrew divorced, and in 1880, Martha married Jacob Stoffer Ingledue (b. Jun-1829 in OH, d.25-Dec-1907). MARTHA and JACOB had a son together: Dr. George Francis Ingledue. In Onawa, Monona County, Iowa, on 27JAN1912, Martha married a third time to Daniel P. Dodd, son of Garrett Dodd. On 17MAY1918, Andrew died at age 81. He is buried in Modesto, CA, next to his daughter, IDA, her husband William Corbin Wilcut, and their son OD Corbin Wilcut. Andrew held the title of "Squire" - being a land owner rather than homesteader. On 21-Aug-1874, Lovel Lloyd Fish signed a contract to operate Andrew and Martha Baker's farm in Vermillion, SD. Andrew, a "Justice of the Peace" officiated Lovel's 8-Oct-1874 wedding to his first daughter, MARY ANN (a week before her 14th birthday). The next morning, Andrew and the rest of his family moved back to central Illinois (Clark County?). Andrew and family returned in the spring of 1875, and Andrew ran a blacksmith shop in Yankton, SD. In 1876, Mary Ann's first child, Annie, died at birth, so Lovel and Mary Ann then also moved to Yankton. There, Andrew taught Lovel the blacksmith trade. An early blizzard hit in late October 1880, and the snow stayed all winter. When the ice on the Missouri River broke up on March 27, 1881, the area was flooded in less than an hour. Most of Vermillion was demolished and was relocated to the top of the bluff, where it is today. When the flood hit, most of the 700 residents of Vermillion escaped with only the clothes on their backs.
