MARTHA DANIELS Funeral rites for Mrs. Martha Daniels, who died Sunday at her home near Norwood, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Norwood M. E. church, conducted by Rev. W. H. Watts, of the United Brethren church, and burial was in the Norwood cemetery by the side of her husband. Martha Jane Carmichael was born in the state of Indiana on June 8, 1849, and departed this life on June 14, 1936, at the age of 87 years and 6 days. She was the eldest of seven children, four of whom have gone on before, Mrs. Anne Arnold, who died in Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Rowland, whose death occurred in South Dakota, John Carmichael, who passed away in Primghar, Iowa, and Sarah, who died when a little girl, near Norwood, Iowa. One brother, Chas. Carmichael, of Mallard, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Triggs, of St. James, Minn., are living. She came with her parents to Iowa when she was two years of age and the family located on a farm near Norwood, where the remainder of her life was spent. She was married about sixty-one years ago to John M. Daniels. To this union three children were born, Marion E., of Milo, Iowa, Thomas S., and Mrs. Josie Mumford, of Norwood, all of whom were present at the funeral services. Mrs. Daniels died on the farm that had been her home for over sixty years. At an early age she united with the United Brethren church and remained faithful to her church and Savior until her death.
